    Paradise Lost

    June 6th, 2007

Just passed by a high ranking police officer close to Town Hall - I expected that they were carrying out major search operation. But I was surprised to see that he was going through the meagre belongings of a beggar!

No doubt the search was for claymore mines and improvised explosive devices - it is devastating to note that we can no longer trust even the beggars - since they could very well be terror accomplices.

So much of the country’s resources is now being wasted on these street by street search operations. It was just the other day that I saw about a group of twenty checking pavements and even the “island” on the middle of the road for bombs.

I wonder what to what extent we could have developed if all the resources being used for the war was being used for poverty alleviation and development.

On the other hand all the money wasted on the war cannot be stolen by our corrupt politicians!

So there every cloud does have a silver lining!

You can no more win a war than you can win an earthquake.
    Jeannette Rankin (1880 - 1973)
